Thematic areas

Cattle and dairy production

The dairy market is expanding globally. Annual growth of 3.75% in global sales volume is expected by 2025. In the dairy export nations in particular, the trend is towards process optimisation through automation and digitalisation. In Europe, the focus is on animal welfare, sustainability, climate protection and transparency in the process chain. There is a global trend towards greater efficiency, animal health and the associated higher product quality. The exhibition and specialist programme offers trade fair visitors the opportunity to find out about current topics and expand their international network.

Pig

Global pork production is increasing significantly again. The highest growth rates are expected in Asia. Animal health, biosecurity and efficient production systems are issues that concern pig farming worldwide. In addition, animal welfare, sustainability and emission reduction are also important, especially in Europe. Forms of cross-value chain production are of interest to producers and marketers in terms of transparent production. Whether breeding, feeding, husbandry or transport - EuroTier provides information on the latest developments. Numerous specialised events offer the opportunity for global networking.

Poultry

The demand for poultry meat is increasing worldwide. In 2020, poultry took over the top position in meat production worldwide. The production of eggs is also continuously increasing worldwide. Biosecurity, animal health and sustainability of production are issues that concern the poultry industry worldwide. In European producer countries, the focus is on animal welfare issues and the need to reduce the use of antibiotics and emissions from poultry houses. As the leading trade fair, EuroTier offers information on all aspects of poultry farming. Find out about innovations and trends in husbandry, breeding, feeding and marketing.

Aquaculture

The controlled production of aquatic organisms is internationally recognised as the branch of the food industry with the highest growth rates. Aquaculture includes fish as well as mussels, crustaceans and aquatic plants that are produced in freshwater or saltwater. According to the FAO (2020), 114 million tonnes of aquaculture products were harvested in 2018 - and the trend is rising. The diversity of this agricultural sector explains the high demand for specialised information. After all, aquaculture must also address global issues such as sustainability, animal welfare, health and climate protection. EuroTier is a trend barometer and provides information on innovations in husbandry, feeding and aeration technology.

Sheep and goat

Sheep play a major role in landscape conservation. They also provide wool, milk and meat. Not only is cheese made from the milk of ewes, sheep's milk is also used in the production of cosmetics. Automation and husbandry systems with low labour costs hardly exist. This is a challenge for sheep and goat farmers, but also a guarantee of high social acceptance. EuroTier offers professional sheep and goat farmers and hobby shepherds a platform for exchanging information on current developments in breeding, husbandry and feeding.

Horses

For many farmers in Europe, rearing horses for boarding is developing into a serious line of business with high development potential. EU-wide, the annual turnover in the equine sector is estimated at 100 billion euros, with equestrian sport being the most important. The planned establishment of the EU Animal Welfare Reference Centre for ruminants and horses underlines the growing relevance of animal health and welfare for horses too: species-appropriate husbandry, needs-based feeding, health, exercise and transport - EuroTier offers professional horse owners a platform for information and exchange.

Feeding

Feed formulations are constantly being adapted and new feedstuffs and feeding methods established, for example to increase animal welfare or reduce nutrient surpluses in order to enable environmentally friendly use. In addition, animal feed plays an important role in securing the food supply for a growing world population. In future, the importance of those products that are not in direct competition with human foodstuffs, i.e. biomass that is not directly edible by humans, will continue to increase. At EuroTier, leading companies from the national and international animal feed sector will be demonstrating how these demands can be met with innovative animal feeds, processes and formulations.

Digitisation

Agriculture is facing major challenges in the face of increasing demand from a growing world population. As the largest user of land, the sector has a major responsibility to preserve important environmental assets such as soil, water, climate and biodiversity. Digital technologies offer optimised processes and greater product efficiency along the entire value chain. This creates consistently high product quality, greater sustainability and more flexible work organisation. Competitive advantages that also drive agriculture. EuroTier shows what the digital transformation of animal husbandry will look like.
